Plant Chemical Technician (3rd. Shift) (Finance)

The Primary Activities of the Plant Chemical Technician include:
Standard Work/Preventative Maintenance (20%):
Perform preventative maintenance work on parts washers and central parts washer fluid recycling system(s) in accordance with PM instruction lists to maintain proper and consistent function. This work includes wet end part wash system and air blow-off system maintenance.Perform preventative maintenance on stamping lubricant dilution systems and injector systems in accordance with PM instruction lists to maintain proper and consistent function.Perform preventative maintenance on machining coolant tanks, skimmers and supply equipment for production sanders, grinders, tappers, speed fams, drills, tappers, etc., in accordance with PM instruction lists to maintain proper and consistent function.Perform preventative maintenance on machining coolant tanks, skimmers and supply equipment attached to tool room CNC mills, lathes, grinders, drill, etc., in accordance with PM instruction lists to maintain proper and consistent function.Perform preventative maintenance on wash bay and plant chemical waste tanks and/or remediation systems (sump suckers) including rebuild of air-driven reciprocating pumps, cleaning/changing of bag filters, changing of propane-fired engine oil and filters, replacement of hoses, etc., in accordance with PM instruction lists to maintain proper and consistent function.Perform assigned corrective maintenance repairs (mechanical/fabrication work allowed, electrical work NOT allowed) to parts washers, stamping lubricant dilution systems, grinders, sanders, CNC mills and lathes, air-driven hydraulic oil pumps, waste system air-driven reciprocating pumps and plant propane-powered sump suckers.Identify, create and execute corrective maintenance work required for parts washers, stamping lubricant dilution systems, grinders, sanders, CNC mills and lathes, air-driven hydraulic oil pumps, waste system air-driven reciprocating pumps and plant propane-powered sump suckers.Communicate proactively with production and maintenance personnel regarding equipment that requires plant chemical-associated maintenance and/or repairs; and the support needed to complete the task.Perform weekly hydraulic fluid checks and refill as needed for any assigned machine hydraulic lube routes.
Record-Keeping/EAM (10%):
Create new corrective maintenance and/or close existing corrective and preventative maintenance work orders in accordance with correct EAM standard work order creation and closure practices (logging time, work performed, categorizations, etc.)Document hours and work order activity daily in record-keeping systemElectronic Asset Management (EAM).
Continuous Improvement/Lean Principles (10%):
Identify and attempt to eliminate areas of waste for better efficiency and overall plant chemical needs and usage.
Participate in, and support lean initiatives such as continuous improvement events and problem solving events, identifying and eliminating all types of wasteSuggest and implement ideas to increase personal and departmental efficiency. Communicate potential cost savings to other Technicians and Team Leaders.
Participate in 8D and 5-Why problem solving teams.
Quality (15%):
Perform daily swarf management checks, drain and monitor key ISO 14001 aspects concerning swarf containment every shift as required to maintain continuous production.Perform daily waste lube barrel checks, pumping and recording key ISO 14001 aspects every shift as required to maintain continuous production.Follow manufacturers instructions (charts, emails, instruction documentation) for plant chemical dosing/dilution equipment and associated testing requirements.Conduct titration tests and record observations as required for all plant chemical applications requiring this type of test for performance verification.Monitor and maintain automated plant chemical dosing equipment for satisfactory mechanical operation.Monitor and maintain proper fluid/titration levels in central wash recycle system equipment utilizing plant chemical dosing equipment.Conduct refractometer concentration testing and record observations as required for all equipment sumps and/or dilution systems requiring this type of test for performance verification.Maintain the required fluid levels within all main area and remote chemical storage tanks/reservoirs to support continuous production. This includes all plant chemicals such as, but not limited to, stamping lubes, alkaline, neutral and acidic cleaners, rust inhibitors, machine hydraulic oils, fluids, greases, engine oils, etc.Maintain and support the organization of TS16949/14001 records such as mix-data sheet logs, central wash recycle system inspection check sheets, parts washer status logs, corrosion inhibitor titrations charts, liquid waste logs, grinder/sander cleanout logs, logging all required and pertinent plant chemical data and observations.Issue plant chemical-related MRO inventory items to the appropriate department, machine and/or work order. This includes plant chemicals and any associated equipment, repair kits, air filters, fluid filters (bags, UF modules, etc) and other mechanical parts required to maintain continuous production.Identify deficiencies in plant chemical-related MRO inventory item counts and request adjustments to MRO crib attendant(s) and/or buyer. In addition, identify additional MRO or plant chemical-related MRO items required to be inventoried to maintain high quality and continuous plant repair capabilities.
Safety/5S (10%):
Consistently adhere to, and support, company policies and procedures, including ISO, TS 16949 and safety regulations.Follow all safety procedures, including MIOSHA regulatory requirements regarding machinery and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), controls, safety devices, lock-out/tag-out, use of coolants, and die block procedures.Operate department Hilo(s) and cranes?Identify potential safety issues and take appropriate action. Ensure environment is free of avoidable risks, and report concerns immediately, taking appropriate action to immediately rectify and resolve.Organize and maintain personal work area and maintenance area per 5S standards. Notify Team Leader if repair or replacement of machinery or equipment is needed.
