Project Manager/Practice Builder - Texas (Architecture)

What you'll be challenged to do:

TranSystems Corporation is currently seeking a Project Manager / Practice Builder in Texas. The candidate will be a key part of our client service teams, and you will manage all aspects of civil/highway/bridge transportation projects from business development, scope and fee development, resource planning, plan development, and project oversight. You will also coordinate with our leadership team to help set and obtain strategic goals for our growing practice in terms of sales, profitability, and technical excellence.


Basic Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for overall Project Management including scope development, contract negotiations, staff management, invoicing, progress reports, delivery, quality and safety
  • Monitor, manage, and communicate project performance (financials, schedule, quality, and risks) to all internal and external stakeholders
  • Assures that projects are completed within the allocated time and budget
  • Responsible for delivery of services and client satisfaction.
  • Assures QC is completed on managed projects per the latest company QC manual.
  • Serve in QC role or provide Independent Reviews as required in areas of competency.
  • Plans, organizes, and supervises the work of a staff of engineers and technicians
  • Assist in updating monthly workload projections and workload management
  • Grow and mentor staff, help recruit, and be a positive role model
  • Participation and leadership in professional/technical societies and present at industry conferences.
  • Assists with the implementation of the Texas Area business development goals
  • Develop new and manage existing client relationships while interfacing with the client for proposal and project-related items.
  • Identify transportation project opportunities early and participate in go/no-go decisions with client service teams.
  • Lead/assist pursuit strategy and capture plan development for projects before RFP release.
  • Lead/assist with proposal development and making presentations, based on client expectations and key win themes for project pursuits.


Qualifications

What you bring to our firm:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering field required
  • 10+ plus years of progressive experience in design and management of civil/highway/bridge projects
  • Strong communication skills (both verbal and written) and presentation skills.
  • Project management and contract administration experience
  • Ability to lead a design team on multiple concurrent assignments
  • Experience in the preparation of plans, specifications and estimates
  • Knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint and various engineering and scheduling software
  • Knowledge of Microstation/Geopak/OpenRoads technology
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Texas.
  • Travel Requirements: Approximately 10-15%
  • Actively engages multiple perspectives when solving problems, seeks to learn from peers, and encourages reciprocal learning among team members.

What we'd prefer for you to bring to our firm:

  • Excellent client interaction skills who can manage and lead design teams specializing in civil/highway/bridge design.
  • Experience successfully delivering TXDOT Schematic Design or PS&E Design projects.
  • Experience working with transportation clients such as DOTs, cities, counties, private developers, and/or railroads.
  • Relationships within TxDOT and various other local public agencies.
  • TxDOT precertification in Schematic Development, Major Roadway and Bridge Design categories
