Field Technician (Architecture)
TransCore, a subsidiary of ST Engineering, is seeking full-time Field Technicians to join our team in Ashburn, Virginia.
Summary: Performs on-site or in-house servicing, repair and/or installation of customer equipment. This job may include any aspect of field support including: troubleshooting and repair of electronic equipment, systems, and wiring; installation of equipment; upgrades, modifications, programming; preventive maintenance actions; documentation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Education: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required. One year certificate from college or technical school preferred.
Skill: Applies acquired job skills and company policies and procedures to complete assigned tasks.
Job Complexity: Works on assignments requiring some judgment and initiative. Understands implications of work and makes recommendations for solutions.
Supervision: Normally receives little instruction on daily work, general instructions on newly introduced assignments.
Experience: Typically requires a minimum of 2 - 4 years of related experience.
Driving Requirement: Must have a valid driver's license and clean driver's record.
Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to diagnose common problems and apply specified solutions.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts; outside weather conditions and moving traffic. The employee is exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The employee is expected to work alone and without supervision.
