The Cardiac Diagnostics & Services (CDS) business is at the forefront of transforming cardiac care through early detection, remote patient monitoring, and advanced digital health platforms. We are seeking a highly analytical and strategic Principal Competitive Marketing Program Manager to lead competitive intelligence and response strategies across our CDS portfolio. This role will report to the VP of Global Commercial Marketing and serve as the subject matter expert for market dynamics, competitive positioning, and commercial implications in a fast-evolving digital health landscape.

In this high-impact role, you will work cross-functionally across product, commercial, clinical, and global teams to shape how we position Medtronic's solutions against a diverse and rapidly changing competitive set. You'll drive actionable insights, develop market response strategies, and enable the field to differentiate with confidence and clarity.

A DAY IN THE LIFE:

You might start your day tracking market developments-analyzing competitor announcements, customer feedback, and new clinical data. Mid-morning, you'll collaborate with product marketing and strategy leads to refine positioning and assess implications of a new market entrant. Later, you'll facilitate a workshop with global sales and clinical teams to train on messaging, objection handling, and battlecards. You may also brief executive leadership with a strategic analysis of competitor risks and opportunities-supporting decisions that shape the future of our CDS portfolio. Responsibilities will include:

  • Lead global competitive marketing strategy and execution for the CDS business.

  • Serve as the internal expert on competitors, market trends, and positioning dynamics.

  • Develop competitive response strategies, positioning frameworks, and sales enablement tools (e.g., battlecards, playbooks, competitive training).

  • Monitor and analyze competitive developments through primary and secondary research, conferences, customer feedback, and internal insights.

  • Collaborate closely with product marketing, global commercial, clinical, and business development teams.

  • Partner with sales training and field teams to build confidence and competency in competitive differentiation.

  • Present strategic insights and recommendations to marketing leadership and business unit executives.

  • Support strategic planning, portfolio positioning, and pricing with competitor landscape insights.

  • Disseminate actionable competitor insights across teams, regions, and customer segments.

  • Drive internal readiness programs e.g., competitive playbooks, training sessions, workshops).

Basic Qualifications: Must Have:

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant digital experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience in the digital pharmaceutical , medical device, or other healthcare -centric industry

  • Deep understanding of go-to-market strategies, product positioning, and market dynamics in healthcare or medtech .

  • Proven experience developing competitive frameworks, content, and enablement programs.

  • Strong analytical, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

  • Ability to travel up to 20 % of the time

Nice to Have:

  • MBA or advanced degree in marketing , strategy or healthcare-related field.

  • Experience in cardiology, diagnostics, remote monitoring, or chronic disease management.

  • Entrepreneurial spirit balanced with collaborative style and professional maturity

  • Comfort operating in a matrixed, fast-paced environment with senior-level visibility.

  • Background in sales enablement, pricing strategy, or corporate strategy.

  • Global marketing experience and understanding of regional market differences.

  • Familiarity with competitive intelligence tools, CRM platforms, and analytics dashboards.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$117,600.00 - $176,400.00

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to those regular employees who work 20+ hours per week: Health, Dental and vision insurance , Health Savings Account , Healthcare Flexible Spending Account , Life insurance, Long-term disability leave , Dependent daycare spending account , Tuition assistance/reimbursement , and Simple Steps (global well-being program).

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to all regular employees: Incentive plans, 401(k) plan plus employer contribution and match , Short-term disability , Paid time off , Paid holidays , Employee Stock Purchase Plan , Employee Assistance Program , Non-qualified Retirement Plan Supplement (subject to IRS earning minimums) , and Capital Accumulation Plan (available to Vice Presidents and above, or subject to IRS earning minimums).

Regular employees are those who are not temporary, such as interns. Temporary employees are eligible for paid sick time, as required under applicable state law, and the Employee Stock Purchase Plan. Please note some of the above benefits may not apply to workers in Puerto Rico.
