Carpenter (Construction)



Job Summary

The Carpenter is responsible for constructing material handling skids based on customer specifications. This role involves reading and interpreting blueprints or customer instructions, measuring and cutting materials, assembling skids, and ensuring they are properly handled and moved.

Job Responsibilities 

  • Read Specifications: Interpret shipping notices and customer specifications to determine the exact requirements for constructing skids

  • Measure and Layout: Use tools like rulers, measuring tapes, and pencils to mark out dimensions on materials accurately

  • Assemble Skids: Utilize table saws and nail guns to assemble skids according to the specified design and dimensions in an efficient manner

  • Manage Returned Skids: Sort and stack returned skids for reuse or recycling

  • Transport Skids: Operate a forklift to move skids to the designated area for packaging or further processing

  • Additional Duties: Perform other tasks as assigned by the supervisor or management

Qualifications

  • Education and/or Experience: High School diploma or GED; or one to three months of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Tool Proficiency: Knowledge of safe operation of basic hand and power tools

  • Reading Specifications: Ability to interpret and follow customer specifications for skid construction

  • Measuring Skills: Competence in reading and using measuring devices accurately

  • Physical Examination: Ability to pass a physical examination for vision, hearing, and mobility
  • Reliability: Demonstrated reliable work history
  • Attention to Detail: Must be detail-oriented with a strong focus on precision and quality in all tasks
