Director, Supply Chain (Biotech)

The Head  of  Cell and Gene Therapy (CGT)  Supply  Chain  is  accountable  for  consistent  and  flawless  supply chain  execution  at  the  asset  level.  On  that  purpose,  he/she  is  translating customers'  demand  into  executable  schedules  for  which  material,  asset  and resources  are  available  and  develops  and  sets  practices  in  alignment  with  the Lonza  and  CGT  supply  chain.  The  incumbent  provides  leadership  to  the  asset supply   chain   team   and   explores   new   ways   to   bring   in   organizational transformation. He/she is also responsible for operational buying of materials and warehouse/ logistics operations

Key Responsibilities:

• Flawless coordination of site planning alignment (from demand to execution)
• Project management of Supply Chain functions for new asset startup.
• Planning and executing operational buying activities
• Ensuring through the warehouse/logistics team that the movement of material across the site and distribution of products to the customers is conducted, securing compliance with internal and external standards.
• All medium- and short- term planning processes to ensure fully integrated asset capacity planning, labor planning and material planning
• Providing forecasting scenario integrating demand within operation network capacities over a rolling 2-to-5-year time horizon
• Manage creation and maintenance of master data and ensure optimal leverage of ERP system
• SC Team leadership including optimal resources allocation, hiring, gap analysis and talent development
• Measure and report supply chain Key Performance Indicators. Define targets and initiate appropriate measures to achieve targets
• Lead the monthly site Supply S&OP meeting, provide a monthly forecast of all site-based deliverables, update the financial outlook for the site as agreed at the meeting and submit to BU Planner
• Defining and executing process and organizational improvement projects to further develop supply chain performance. Manage execution of Supply Chain Transformation
• Serve as member of the CGT BU Leadership Team, representing the CGT SC departments as well as the customer portfolio
• Phased Leadership:  Immediately Direct leadership: 3; Indirect: 0; Long term to be determined with the needs of the new asset. 
• Meet all GxP requirements
• Meet all safety standards, especially in warehouse and goods handling
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Key Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree required
• 10+ years of experience in a direct leadership role with demonstrable success as a department lead
• Experience in Supply Planning and Materials Requirements Management
• Experience in warehouse management and logistics
• People leadership and experience of managing large teams
• Experience in project management and process improvement
• Profound knowledge of SAP system
• Effective communication skills in an  externally facing role
• Demonstrated ability to operate proactively and independently within matrix environment
• Gravitas and intellectual capability to earn respect and credibility throughout the organization and in different cultures, especially China
• A track record of getting things done with the tenacity to manage to a successful conclusion
• Ability to challenge status quo to improve processes
• Strategic thinker with commercial awareness – allied to an execution mindset
• Intellectual ability to think creatively to resolve problems and achieve practical results
• Must collaborate and act positively to influence peers and colleagues
