Job Description
Primary Function of Position

The Ion™ endoluminal system is Intuitive's new robotic platform for minimally invasive biopsy in the peripheral lung, with an initial goal of improving the early diagnosis of lung cancer. The Software Engineer (GUI) will design and implement a variety of new user-facing features for Ion, ranging from more traditional 2D GUI's to interactive 3D virtual environments. In this role you will work closely with designers, clinical engineers, and other software developers to create world-class user experiences for the Ion platform to positively impact physician experience and patient outcomes. The ideal candidate is a self-directed and fast-paced GUI developer with excellent problem-solving skills and a passion for good software architectures and processes, capable of producing robust, high-quality code in the face of rapidly changing requirements.

Essential Job Duties

  • Work as part of a cross-functional team in a fast-paced, start-up-like business unit
  • Design and implement world-class GUI elements and workflows using Qt/QML and other tools in an embedded C++ environment
  • Prototype new GUI elements and workflows, rapidly iterating to prove concepts or fail quickly
  • Refine prototypes to production-quality software through rapid iterations
  • Contribute to system and software architecture for the Ion platform
  • Create requirements and formal test protocols for new features
  • Stay up to date with latest UI development trends and technologies, and propose innovative solutions to enhance our software
Qualifications
Required Skills and Experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience developing and supporting user interfaces
  • Exceptional working knowledge of C++ and object-oriented programming
  • Familiarity with GUI development frameworks
  • Familiar with development in a Linux environment
  • Great communication skills and teamwork
  • High levels of autonomy and technical ownership

Required Education and Training

BS in CS or related fields; MS or higher is a plus

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Experience developing user interfaces using Qt/QML
  • Experience with graphics libraries such as OpenGL, OpenSceneGraph, Vulkan, QtQuick3D
  • Experience with game engines such as Unity or Unreal Engine
  • Experience with parallel programming and Cuda
  • Experience working with software development methodologies and tools (CI, version control, issue tracking, agile, etc.)
  • Experience working in a regulated software environment such as medical device

Base Salary Range Region 1: $149,200 USD - $214,800 USD
Base Salary Range Region 2: $126,900 USD - $182,500 USD
