SOX Compliance Manager (Finance)
Making an Impact
• Execute strategic direction of SOX compliance program, working with the SOX compliance teams across the globe;
• Build upon and enhance Global SOX methodology ensuring consistent approach is being applied globally; including development and maintenance of Global SOX instructions/playbook;
• Develop in-depth expertise on PCAOB auditing standards, regulatory developments impacting SOX compliance program;
• Perform ongoing assessment of current business processes, risks and controls to assess effectiveness in consideration of changes in business and regulatory developments (i.e, PCAOB requirements, ESG and Climate Related control considerations)
• Work closely with Oracle Compliance Manager and Global SOX Compliance -Sr. Manager in the development of a world-class control framework to align with the Company's finance transformation activities to an advanced global ERP system (Oracle) and move to business process centers of excellence.
Sharing Expertise
• Work with external auditors to identify areas of continuous improvement to enhance reliance placed on the work of SOX compliance team globally;
• Develop and instruct process owner & SOX compliance trainings;
• Work with Global SOX teams on developing remediation plans in response to identified deficiencies and ensuring timely remediation.
Gaining Exposure
• Identify opportunities to leverage technology / automation in the control environment including automated system controls, RPA, enhanced business analytics
• Partner with the business in early identification of control considerations as it relates to business transformation / strategic projects
• Liaison with Audit Advisory Services in understanding AAS scope of work, areas for enhanced coordination and leverage
Your Typical Day
• Manages the SOX Center of Excellence, with a focus on business operational controls, by supporting the planning activities, including scope, schedule and communication with ManpowerGroup entities, and the external and internal auditors, as required.
• Continuously assesses if on-going improvements should be made to ensure the Company's SOX program is efficient, flexible and scalable.
o Supports the implementation of the SOX program for new, in-scope locations, including project management, technical guidance, and monitoring.
o Provide input and analysis into the development of global standards and guidance; communicate to ManpowerGroup entities, as required.
o Train new personnel on SOX methodology, processes, and tools.
o Leverage methods and tools to monitor, track and assess overall SOX program compliance and control environment utilizing Archer, the Company's SOX compliance tool.
• Ensure assignment and monitoring of remediation plans; tracks related work papers and ensure sufficient documentation is maintained by accountable management and owners.
• Supervises the SOX Project Managers and SOX COE personnel to ensure their work is properly performed and meets the defined timelines. Also, manages non-employee resources / contractors as required to meet SOX program requirements.
• Plan and coordinate multiple projects, shift priorities as needed and continuously improve and update SOX compliance procedures.
• Provide support and participate in various special projects, as requested.
As it relates to the North America SOX Project Manager aspect of the role,
• Perform and/or supervise the performance and completion of testing procedures for the North American Region to ensure ongoing compliance
• Produce work paper documentation that is clear and concise, provides adequate detail of work performed and conclusions reached, meets professional standards, requires minimal review notes and revisions
• Develop and build out Business Process Control Documentation including process flow charts, narratives and risk and control mappings
• Manage time to meet established deadlines and milestones. Responsive to business partner requests and foster positive working relationships with Local Control Process Owners.
• Clearly and timely communicate control findings to internal clients and work with clients to develop effective agreed upon actions with related timeframes for completion
• Monitor implementation of outstanding control compliance recommendations and validate their implementation
• Perform risk assessments of financial and operational processes and controls
• Plan and analyze assigned processes
• Partner with peers to deliver against department's goals and objectives
• Foster a team environment, inclusive and work well with others. Provide support, such as coaching or training, to help other team members.
• Ensure adherence to all applicable department and professional standards
Other accountabilities as assigned
Qualifications:
Required
• Minimum of 5-10 years of relevant previous work experience in Accounting, Audit and/or the Finance field
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field required, with evidence of strong and distinguished academic performance preferred
• CPA, CIA, or equivalent professional certification, either complete or in process, strongly preferred
• Experience working in global teams or projects is desirable but not required
• Experience with Sarbanes Oxley and PCAOB regulatory requirements
• Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
• Strong project management, analytical and problem solving skills
• Ability to travel an estimated 10-20% to international and domestic locations
• Fluency in English required. Language skills in French, German, or Italian are preferred, but not required
Nice to Have
• Prior experience working at Big 4 Accounting Firm or Internal Audit Team
This position is based in our Global Headquarters located in downtown Milwaukee. Employees can enjoy an onsite cafeteria, coffee shop and gym along with beautiful views of the Milwaukee river, Deer District, and historic downtown architecture.
