Business Development Manager (Sales)
Position Description:
The Business Development Manager is responsible for selling directly to leading medical device OEMs, across multiple functional groups including R&D, Product Development, Operations, and Procurement functions. The sales engineering based role is responsible for promoting AMETEK's leading medical device engineering solutions for new product introductions, sustaining and value engineering solutions to existing medical device OEMs. Daily activities also include securing orders, generating sales, and profits in accordance with a business forecast and an established plan. The Business Development Manager is also required to maintain a sales funnel to support account activities on a weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis. The incumbent will grow revenue and profits at new and established medical accounts by partnering with AMETEK engineering and operations to present solutions that address the high level needs of a medical customer's key decision makers. The position is responsible for initiating managing all relationships and activities at assigned medical accounts.
Duties and Responsibilities include:
1. Achieves sales and profit goals at assigned accounts within the guidelines of the Company's sales practices.
2. Continue to identify and update “value-add” at all customers and establish pricing that reflects that value in terms of Gross Margin
3. Expands business and customer loyalty within strategic accounts, increases account penetration
4. Controls and performs the activities of contract negotiations to obtain optimum orders, sales, and profits
5. Develops and maintains superior relationships with key decision makers and influencers at assigned accounts up to the C-suite level
6. Implements personal travel schedule to maintain close contact with key decision makers at assigned accounts. A minimum of 50% travel to customers, potentially involving worldwide travel. Including, but not limited to, Air, Train and Automobile.
7. Exhibits a high level of proficiency and expertise in discussing the Company's products, processes, and services.
8. Facilitates/leads collaboration among cross-functional team members; shares market and product intelligence.
9. Forecasts annually, quarterly and monthly orders, sales, and profits for assigned accounts. Meets or exceeds forecasted numbers on a quarter to quarter basis.
10. Understand and develop territory plan to communicate market trends that could potentially impact AMETEK EMC revenues and profitability
11. Contributes to formulation of monthly/quarterly Company Sales Strategy and Annual Sales Plan
12. Prepared weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports to summarize activities and results within assigned accounts and populates into Salesforce.com or equivalent sales tools
13. Participates in trade shows, customer business reviews and customer supplier meetings to strengthen customer relationships and capture target accounts
14. Completes administrative duties, including but not limited to expense reports, company care maintenance, weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports in a timely fashion and works within a specified budget.
15. Maintains a self-improvement program, coordinated through the Director of Sales, by attending conferences, courses, training, and readings to continue to develop expertise in Sales, in relevant technology, and in the medical device industry.
16. Partner with established outside sales rep firms in the territory
17. All other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or similar major is required. A Master's degree is preferred.
• Certification in a recognized tactical selling training program is preferred
• Major multinational medical account management with a minimum of 5 years experience of demonstrated ability to sell into a major medical device OEM matrixed organizations.
• Demonstrated success at selling high value, complex, technical products in medical device technologies.
• Knowledge and experience with the development, approval, and marketing of medical devices, and understanding of the New Product Development (NPD) processes for medical devices, as well as familiarity with medical device manufacturing and with manufacturing in general.
• Demonstrated ability to pioneer new accounts and new geographies within the medical market
• Polished communication skills to successfully deliver presentations, and to write reports for executive audience
• Demonstrated ability to establish productive relationships with Design and Development Engineers, Supply Chain Management and selling up to the higher levels of management throughout customers organization
• Demonstrated ability to identify and gain access to key decision makers at customer C-suite level
• Establish relationships between AMETEK management and high level management at customer
• Demonstrated ability to influence colleagues at all levels of an organization
• Demonstrated ability to successfully operate in a cross functional team environment
• Demonstrated skills with PC office applications, such as MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Proficiency with Contact Relationship Management software (such as Salesforce.com), with advanced networking tools (such as LinkedIn) and with database analysis
• Demonstrated ability to function in a fast-paced dynamic organization
• Demonstrated self starter with the ability to set and achieve aggressive personal goals
