Job Details

This position is a hybrid role located in our state of art design facility in New Freedom, PA, which is conveniently located in York County, just 30 miles from the Baltimore area.

The Johnson Controls Advanced Development & Engineering Center (JADEC) in New Freedom, Pennsylvania, features a 250,000-square-foot HVAC testing lab and support facility – making it the newest and most advanced in the world of its kind.

The test lab facility features over 20 labs that can test air-cooled and water-cooled chillers, acoustics, power electronics, compressors, air handling units, and includes various other ancillary labs that can help spur innovation. The facility also houses a training center for variable refrigerant flow (VRF) systems, chillers and other products and technologies.

What you will do

The Sr. HR Generalist will be responsible for the delivery and execution of HR services to employees and managers.  You will perform a variety of employment related functions for the ultimate purpose of enhancing employee engagement, productivity, and ensuring employee compliance with company policies.

How you will do it
 

  • Under minimal supervision, provide Human Resources support to a large and/or remote workforce.

  • Ability to work autonomously in ambiguous situations and adapt quickly to change, as well as guide varying levels of the organization through change.

  • Leverage the full capabilities of the Human Resources (HR) organization, e.g. centers of expertise (COE's), shared service centers, business HR, and compliance.

  • Consult on a variety of routine to complex employee relations issues such as corrective actions, policy violations, and performance issues.

  • Present Human Resources programs to customer groups and employees.

  • Support labor relations in union and non-union environment.

  • Leverage reputation as a neutral and approachable HR professional to identify the best solution based on the situation.

  • Participate in implementation of organization changes and support with appropriate change management processes.

  • Conduct investigations and recommend actions to effectively resolve policy violations.  Seek counsel from Legal as necessary to ensure proper risk management. Elevate matters to HR Leadership or other authority as may be appropriate.

  • Actively participate in projects / continuous improvement initiatives from design through implementation.

What we look for
Required

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field

  • Minimum 5+ years HR Generalist experience with strong knowledge of Employee/Labor Relations

  • Experience in a union environment strongly preferred.

  • Must have solid human resources generalist skills, especially in the areas of employee relations, performance management, talent acquisition, and, where applicable, labor law and labor relations.

  • Must be able to quickly gain trust and build relationships.

  • Demonstrated success at influencing and coaching employees and business leaders is required.

  • Exceptional organizational, interpersonal, and oral/written communication skills are essential.

  • Also important is the ability to balance multiple and competing priorities.

  • Occasional travel may be required
