Director of EHS (Architecture)



Job Summary:

The Director of EHS is accountable for implementing and promoting Environmental, Health, and Safety programs, policies, and procedures and directly supervising a staff of Regional Safety Managers who ensure compliance with these policies and procedures in branch facilities. This position reports directly to the VP, EHS.

This position will oversee the Western United States, covering 16 Kloeckner branches, and will have 2 direct reports. The office will be based in Santa Fe Springs or City of Industry, California.

Primary Responsibilities:  

  • Direct and oversee the implementation and application of EHS projects, initiatives, and associated results in branch facilities within specific regions
  • Develop and maintain periodic report formats that convey results and trends
  • Perform safety evaluations and audits of facilities and associated documentation
  • Directly supervise Regional Safety Managers and provide direction on procedures, problem resolution, and strategic initiatives in the branch facilities
  • Regularly present status updates of EHS initiatives and KPIs to the executive committee
  • Research, develop, and implement potential technologies solutions for EHS issues
  • Drive continuous EHS improvement
  • Provide mentoring to new Regional Safety Managers
  • All other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Must have expert knowledge in Cal/OSHA and Cal/EPA
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 6+ years related experience and/or training
  • Excellent knowledge of EHS legislations and procedures
  • Strong working knowledge of potentially hazardous materials or practices
  • Ability to travel up to 50%

Other Skills and Abilities 

  • Experience using a safety management system, database, and/or other digital tools for managing safety activities, protocol, and compliance
  • Skilled in MS Suite: Excel, PPT, Outlook
  • Excellent written and oral communication

  • Personal organization, attention to detail
  • Motivating and inspiring

Compensation 

  • Starting pay targeting between $150,000 - $168,000 
  • Health Benefits including Medical, Dental and Vision for Full Time employees
