Mittera Jacksonville is looking for an experienced Material Handlers to join our team. Material handlers deliver printed products to and from all departments, including laying paper down for presses. They ensure that all finished product is prepped for final shipment to our clients as well as receive in product, confirm it matches the purchase order, and delivers to the assigned departments. They must have the ability to work in a team environment while doing so in a safe and efficient manner. Job Summary: Responsible for operation of powered industrial vehicles (PIV) to assist with receiving, scanning, stacking, stocking, transporting, and delivery of all materials throughout the facilities in a safe, accurate and efficient manner to meet warehouse and production demands. Follows departmental regulations and procedures to process customer jobs through the Department on a timely basis and within specified quality standards. Essential Duties and Responsibilities - Safely and efficiently operate PIV throughout the plant to ensure timely and accurate deliver of materials. - Operate PIV (clamp/forklift) by moving levers, controls, hoists, and/or clamp attachment, to ensure timely and accurate receiving, scanning, stacking, stocking, transportation, and delivery of materials. - Position lifting devices under, over, or around loaded pallets, skids, or boxes and secure material or products with shrink wrap, straps/bands, or other securing devices for transport to designated areas. - Manually or mechanically load or unload materials from pallets, skids, platforms, cars, lifting devices, or other transport vehicles. - Inspect product load and assure accurate count verification through weight check and recording legibly and accurately. Perform verification that counts, and load tags are accurate and correctly applied to pallets. - Inspect product load for quality, damage, and ID of paper type to accuracy and safely move product around the warehouse or facility to ensure timely delivery. - Move materials throughout work areas as required always using PIV horn in blind spots or when pedestrians are present. - Move and place pallets in required areas for production use. Maintain adequate and accurate records to show pallet usage. - Assure quality application of packaging materials for final transport/shipping, making sure that all identification markings/tags are legible and properly placed on load. - Perform routine inspection/maintenance on PIV's or auxiliary equipment (such as cleaning, lubricating, recharging batteries, fueling, or replacing liquefied-gas tank) and record data as necessary on required inspection documents. - Complete daily PIV reports at start and end of shift. - Notify leads and Supervisors immediately for propane tank refuel, as only certified & trained personnel are allowed to change/refuel propane tanks. - Check press schedule, each press, and locators to verify paper type that is currently running on shift and/or prepare for subsequent shift. - Transport paper rolls to press areas to ensure paper rolls are available for production job requirements. - Remove and re-stock paper rolls that were not used (full and butt rolls, partial left-over paper rolls of a full roll). Ensure butt roles have cores on both sides and are wrapped in plastic or paper cover and each roll has a barcode reflecting correct size. - Complete required paperwork and records (such as a Move Ticket, Move Sheet, Change of Paper form etc.). - Communicate any discrepancies or problems to the Manufacturing Supervisor or Shipping Manager. - Communicate at shift change with next Material Handler and advise of any pertinent information regarding paper roll handling. - Utilize scanners for bar coded paper roll transportation to scan and reflect paper transferred in the system to maintain updated inventory. - Ensures compliance with all applicable OSHA and EPA federal and state rules, regulations, policies and guidelines and Company safety rules. Report any unsafe equipment or conditions to your supervisor. - Hearing protection is required at all times in the press area. - Responsible each day for area worked. Supports Safety Committee and participates as requested or needed.
