Project Engineer - Product Testing (Finance)



Reports to: Testing Division Manager

Job Summary:

The Project Estimation Engineer will review specifications to ensure capability of customer requested projects related to product testing. The position will review documentation, specification and methods to ensure capability and capacity. Maintaining specifications and methods through compliance of regulatory data is necessary for access to such specifications through access portals such as ASTM, DIN and ISO. Also included will be project management duties related to out to vendor and 3 rd party test requests.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Perform:

  • Responsible for quoting various product testing projects to include automotive design and product validations, defense and military testing packages as well as Consumer Product and Medical Testing Requests.
  • Working closely with sales, engineering and other departments to ensure capability, capacity and testing protocols can be met.
  • Work with Engineering for design of testing rigs and apparatuses to include mechanical fixturing and electrical controls.
  • Prepare budget for project and ensure profitable, competitive pricing structures.
  • Maintain listing of requested testing that is no quoted for capability reasons for future scope additions.
  • Maintain access portals to all online documentation blocks as well as maintaining a book of specifications.
  • Act as Vendor Liaison/Project Manager for all 3 rd Party Out to Vendor Tests
  • Participate in Project Kick Off Meeting for Hand Off of Quoted Projects to Test Engineers
  • Responsible for Follow up and ensuring Customer understanding of quote details.
  • Act as the Customer Liaison through the Quoting Process.
  • Maintain Quote Detail and Price Breakdown Sheets and Folders.

Minimum Education and Qualifications:
  • B.S. in Engineering Discipline
  • Minimum of 5 years work experience in Engineering or Testing
  • Understanding of Test Specifications and Standards
  • Understanding of ISO 17025 and various other testing certifications
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Computer literate: Excel, Word
  • Performance driven and customer focused
