Quality Engineer (Engineering)



ESSENTIAL DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES & AUTHORITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Promote quality initiatives to ensure that documentation and design controls are appropriate for the organization
  • Coordination of quality system procedures and documentation to ensure that they meet the Company's defined quality objectives
  • Participate in design review process
  • In conjunction with the Purchasing and Engineering departments, ensure that suppliers meet the Company's quality requirements
  • Lead investigations related to Quality problems, both internal and external. Work with Manufacturing and Engineering to develop countermeasures, plans, schedules and respond to customers as needed
  • Ensure that inspection and test functions are reviewed regularly for effectiveness
  • Participate and lead MRB activities as Board member
  • Represent Quality as a member of the document change control authority
  • Perform qualification activities on new and existing products (power supplies) including following evaluation plans and first article inspection of assemblies & components.
  • Conduct Quality related investigations of electronic assembly manufacturing processes to determine root cause and corrective actions.
  • Support ISO 90001 compliance and QMS, including internal & certification audits, CARs, etc.    
  • Work with design engineering, manufacturing and customers to investigate failures on returned units. Generate FA report and update RMA database.
  • Prepare and issue CARs, Risk Assessments and Quality HOLDs for product & process related problems.
  • Review and approve change orders quality representative.
  • Monitor and evaluate monthly product performance data from global manufacturing site for trends and address quality performance issues to maintain quality standards.
  • Support Product Environmental Compliance activities for RoHS, REACH, Conflict of Minerals, etc.
  • Interface with various internal departments and external customers to resolve Quality issues with products and processes.
  • Conduct Training when necessary

 

QUALIFICATIONS FOR A QUALITY ENGINEER

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent from a four-year college or technical school
  • Five years of related experience OR a combination of relevant education, training, and experience
  • Experience with ISO 9001 & 13485
  • Experience in IPC workmanship standards
  • Experience with Electromechanical manufacturing including SMT
  • Experience with project management
  • Working knowledge of ESD Controls
  • Working knowledge of Calibration Systems
