Responsibilities

What you'll be challenged to do:

TranSystems is hiring for a CEI Contract Support Specialist. This person will do Inspection and documentation of work performed by construction contractors to verify conformance or non-conformance with related contract documents, plans and specifications.  Responsible for performing technical assignments in field surveying and construction layout, making, and checking engineering computations, inspecting construction work, and conducting field tests in all phases of construction by assisting the Senior Inspectors.

 

General Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Ability to:  Communicate effectively in English (verbally and in writing).
  • Responsible for: Exercising independent judgment in planning work details and making technical decisions related to the office aspects of the project.
  • Responsible for:  Familiarity with the Department's Procedures covering the project related duties as stated above and proficient in the computer programs necessary to perform those duties.
  • Ability to:  Become proficient in Trimble Business Center – Heavy Construction Edition (HCE) or approved surface to surface comparison software and Engineering Menu.
    • Proficiency is the knowledge and expertise to:
      • Understand which surfaces are needed from the designer
      • Understand the survey data from the field
      • Prepare the survey data as needed for use in the software
      • Generate accurate earthwork quantities from the software
  • Assists the Project Administrator in office related duties (i.e., CQR, progress, and final estimates, EEO compliance, Processing Construction Contract changes, etc.) Project specific.
  • Work under the general supervision of the Senior Project Engineer and staff.
  • Work closely with the contractor to resolve any issues in the field or elevate issue to the Senior Inspectors.
  • Measure and test work performed by the construction contractor for compliance or non-compliance with contract documents, plans and specifications.
  • Documentation of construction materials received and verified.

Qualifications

What you bring to our firm:

  • High school graduate or equivalent plus three (3) years of secretarial and/or clerical experience including four (4) years of CEI experience in construction office management having performed project related duties (i.e., Materials Acceptance and Certification (MAC) System input, progress and final estimates, LIMS, progress and final estimates, EEO compliance, processing Construction Contract changes, etc.).
  • CTQP Final Estimates Level II
  • No prior experience required with Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Construction Management degrees.
  • Experienced in the use of standard word processing software.
  • Should exercise independent initiative to help relieve the supervisor of clerical detail.
  • Actively engages multiple perspectives when solving problems, seeks to learn from peers, and encourages reciprocal learning among team members.
