Foreman, Production Lines (Manufacturing)



RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develops, organizes and implements a manufacturing strategy which will lead to a continual

       improvement of processes, knowledge and skills, and which will consider the following:

  • Customer's present & future requirements.
  • Technology, present and development opportunities.
  • Work organization & structure.
  • Employee skills, training, performance, safety & motivation
  • Equipment & tooling requirements
  • Establishes standard operating procedures, manufacturing practices, and cost standards for achieving high quality products within a competitive efficiency/cost requirement.
  • Plans, schedules, and assigns job projects to vessel plant employees, supervising all aspects of the project until completion to assure quality, efficiency, and safety standards are met or surpassed in a timely manner.
  • Provides technical leadership for fabrication procedures and methods to employees, conferring with Engineering, Q.C. and other department heads as necessary.
  • Proofs blueprints prior to being submitted to customer.
  • Reports repair and maintenance work needed on all machinery and equipment to maintenance department to assure availability and safety of operation.
  • Makes vessel plant personnel hiring decisions.  Responsible for vessel plant personnel performance evaluations, wage reviews, disciplinary actions, and vacation scheduling, keeping proper written records.
  •  Assures proper use of overhead cranes, fork truck, drill press, angle roll, plasma cutter, shears, hand tools and other equipment.
  • Attends scheduled Production, Purchase Order, Safety, and other meetings as required.

EQUIPMENT KNOWLEDGE:

  • Must be able to read blue prints.
  • High mechanical aptitude and excellent math skills
  • Working knowledge of a personal computer and related software applications.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS:  

  • Vocational school degree or equivalent in experience.
  • At least five years of hands-on experience in fabrication including operation of all necessary machinery, equipment and tools.
  • At least three years of effective supervisory experience. 
  • Good manual dexterity, good eye/hand coordination.  Close and distant vision, depth perception and ability to focus, required.
  • Thorough and attentive to detail in all job tasks and proactive toward continuous improvement and quality workmanship. 
  • Follow all established safety rules and procedures, including wearing safety glasses, hearing protection and safety shoes.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area.
  • Perform other duties as required.
  • Ability to analyze problems and find effective solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work with all types of people and operate effectively in a team setting.
  • Ability to teach, instruct and demonstrate to other personnel and serve as a good role model.
  • Ability to organize and delegate.
  • Ability to meet predefined deadlines while withstanding related pressure and stress
