CNC Cylindrical Grinder Machinist (Project Management)
Position Description:
AMETEK Precitech, Inc,. seeks an experienced and creative individual to manufacture precision components used in the world's most sophisticated machining systems. Precitech is a unit of AMETEK, Inc., a leading global manufacturer of electronic instruments and electromechanical devices.
We are seeking a CNC Cylindrical Grinder Machinist with the ability to set-up and operate high precision CNC Cylindrical Grinding Machines to produce precision finishes to extremely close tolerances on OD and ID surfaces. Experience in programming and operating a Studer or Kellenberger horizontal CNC grinding system preferred. Must have prior CNC Machining experience and be able to read and interpret prints and use precision measuring instruments and various gauges.
Position Responsibilities:
• Set-up, program, and operate CNC Cylindrical Grinding Machines and Diamond Turning Machines, to produce high precision components to exacting specifications.
• Operate and set up machinery to adjust feed rate, wheel speed, length of stroke, and depth of grind in accordance with accepted quality and finish standards.
• Inspect parts for conformance to specifications dimensionally as well as form and finish, utilizing micrometers, calipers, air gauges, CNC equipment, and CMM.
• Read and interpret prints and associated work instructions and schedules.
• Replace worn wheels and tools as necessary.
• Regularly interface with product engineering and manufacturing engineering.
• Perform special projects with minimum direction using prints, verbal instructions, or hand sketches.
• Assist and/or instruct other machinists.
• Complete necessary paperwork as required to record time and volume of work.
• Properly maintain equipment to ensure efficient operation.
• Operate and prioritize work to maintain on-time production schedules and priority changes.
Position Requirements:
Essential Skills and Experience:
1. Demonstrated knowledge of abrasive material processes such as grinding and honing.
2. Ability to machine and grind a variety of materials.
3. Knowledge of “G” and “M” codes and programming basics.
4. Experience in determining feed rates and operating speeds for various materials
5. Experience with tooling and fixturing
6. Experienced with using computers in a manufacturing environment.
7. Must be able to operate hand tools as required.
8. Operate handling equipment, i.e., forklifts, cranes, etc.
9. Work cooperatively with others in a collaborative environment.
10. Stand for extended periods of time, reach with both hands, and bend as necessary. Frequent lifting up to 40lbs on a regular basis.
Education:
High School diploma and advanced technical training or equivalent, plus at least 3-5 years of experience in similar production environment. Must be able to demonstrate a high degree of machining skills sufficient to perform the job with minimal instruction.
