Inventory Coordinator (Transportation)



U.S. Silica is a global performance materials company and a leading producer of commercial silica used in a wide range of industrial applications and in the oil and gas industry. As of December 31, 2020, we operated 23 production facilities across the United States. We control 489 million tons of reserves of commercial silica, which can be processed to make 197 million tons of finished products that meet American Petroleum Institute ("API") frac sand specifications, and 79 million tons of reserves of diatomaceous earth, perlite, and clays.

The Company is headquartered in Katy, Texas, and has an office located in Reno, Nevada.

The Inventory Coordinator position will purchase non-maintenance inventory supplies, work to improve the accuracy of finished goods inventory, and look for ideas to manage and control costs.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Project future inventory needed and purchase non-maintenance inventory parts for the site (soda ash, packaging supplies, shipping supplies, pallets etc.) to ensure sufficient levels are maintained.
  • Coordinate with shipping the deliveries of non-maintenance inventory items.
  • Coordinate intra-plant transfers for non-maintenance inventory items as needed.
  • Lead efforts to realize 95% finished goods inventory accuracy.
  • Ensure electronic movement of material (refeed and finished goods) is accurate and correct.
  • Conduct inventory cycle counts of finished goods, packaging, pallets, shipping supplies, fuel, and soda ash.
  • Check soda ash levels daily.
  • Ensure accurate and correct inventory at Specialty (outside warehouse).
  • Perform monthly and yearly inventory counts.
  • Generate inventory reports as needed.
  • Assist with the requirements of annual inventory audits and customer audits to ensure they are met.
  • Prepare and complete purchase requisitions as required.
  • Balance daily production numbers for comparison (EPM 015 report and PPI)
  • Enter data daily into Celatom Performance Indicator reports for equipment availability, production, and reject.
  • Generate weekly plant availability report.
  • Process plant fuel receipts and monthly gas fuel logs.
  • Process receipts of non-maintenance inventory parts and soda ash freight.
  • File paperwork as appropriate.
  • Conduct safety compliance audits.

Required Education, Experience, and Skills: 

  • High School diploma.
  • Two years of inventory experience

Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills: 

 

  • Able to communicate effectively, both written and oral
  • Exceptional organizational skills
  • Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness with strong attention to detail
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Experience with ERP systems preferred but not required
  • Consistently be at work and be on time
  • Demonstrate the ability to adapt to changes in the work environment
