Director, Actuary, Valuation & Projections (Information Technology)

The Actuarial Valuation & Projections team serves multiple stakeholders across the enterprise by supporting valuation and financial reporting requirements for US GAAP, LDTI, statutory accounting and risk management. The team plays a central role in the execution of the company's strategic priorities. 

As a key member of the Actuarial Valuation and Projection team, you will be responsible for leading a small team of actuarial professionals executing on valuation, forecasting, and financial reporting activities and for generating insights and analysis that support the Retirement Strategies business unit's strategic objectives.

Primary responsibilities include:  

  • Leading a small team of analysts and actuaries in charge of reserve valuation and financial reporting under US GAAP, LDTI, and statutory accounting principles for Prudential's Pension Risk Transfer products.
  • Providing valuation insights to the Retirement Strategies actuarial leadership team in support of new business and inforce management needs. 
  • Implementing FASB Long Duration Targeted Improvements (LDTI) for the company's Pension Risk Transfer products
  • Achieving process speed/cost/value goals, including working with Prudential's strategic sourcing partners
  • Providing timely, accurate and insightful analytics to facilitate confident decision-making and reporting of results to management
  • Implementing efficient and robust process improvements and maintaining a strong level of control and governance across systems and processes.
  • Being an active participant in Prudential's actuarial community. 
  • Other responsibilities as assigned 

Qualifications:

  • Proven track record of being a creative, execution-focused small team leader.
  • Experience building collaborative relationships with diverse functional areas, including the business, actuarial, finance, treasury, investments, tax, and risk.
  • Experience with Pension Risk Transfer, Group Annuities, Stable Value or Individual Annuity products. 
  • Highly self-motivated and able to thrive in a results-oriented environment with high quality standards.  
  • Bachelor's degree
  • FSA, near FSA, or career ASA with at least 7 years of actuarial experience (in valuation, financial reporting, or supporting pension risk transfer products preferred).
  • Experience with analytical software packages (e.g., R, MATLAB, SAS, etc.), data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, etc.), or related languages (e.g., Python) would be welcomed
  • Experience with principle-based statutory reserving standards would be welcomed
  • Open to remote/virtual location outside of commutable Newark, NJ location.

  • *Note: Prudential is required by Colorado law to include the salary range for this role when hiring a Colorado resident.

    Salary range specific to Colorado: ($134,700 to $182,300)+ discretionary incentive bonus + benefits. Eligibility to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program is subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance. In addition, employees are eligible for standard benefits package including paid time off, medical, dental and retirement.
