Youth Care Worker - PORT (Part Time - Weekend) (Personal Services)



LifeWorks of Austin, TX is looking for Youth Care Workers to join our PORT team! This position is responsible for providing care and services to young adults, ranging in age from 18 to 24 years old, living in a transitional housing to rapid rehousing facility. A Youth Care Worker (YCW) supervises clients by overseeing their overall wellbeing and safety through the core values and mission of the agency. Services provided include monitoring, supervising, maintaining the physical space and meeting basic needs of young adults in a way that positively supports their development, self-sufficiency and their individual goals. The rate of pay for this position is $22.00/hr.

Below is the current shift available:

Saturday's & Sunday's: 11:30pm-11:30am (benefits eligible)

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervises clients within facility and ensures a safe environment is maintained by completing regular perimeter walks, room checks, facility/room searches (as needed), and assisting clients mediate any conflicts that may arise in the shared living space.
  • Assists clients with their day-to-day needs including occasional meal preparation, assistance with coordinating case management activities, and cleaning activities.
  • Ensures facility cleanliness and maintenance is within inspection standards including light cleaning in common and staff areas as well as in the kitchen.
  • Documents and maintains daily written records of client whereabouts and incidents and communicates information with team members while maintaining client confidentiality in accordance with state and federal laws.
  • Maintains client case files and occasional data entry in accordance with respective deadlines and agency policy.
  • Coordinates and completes Intake and discharge of client services occasionally, including consent for services and risk assessment for supervision guidelines.
  • Consistently interacts with clients using LifeWorks' client-focused and strengths-based approaches. Includes supporting day to day activities of clients and relating to clients as they move toward their individual goals while maintaining professional boundaries.
  • Manages emotions and performs in high pressure and/or crisis situations with calm, care, and unconditional positive regard for clients.
  • Manages emotional, physical, and verbally escalated situations by applying approved behavior modification technique to de-escalate youth back to normalcy and assist them in utilizing coping skills during and after the incident.
  • Engages in and completes all required trainings, meetings and professional development plans, including monthly supervision with supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Requires a high school diploma, GED or equivalent.
  • Requires 1 year of related experience; or
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • May require some vocational training.
