Overview

Job Title: Ready Mix Plant Groundskeeper

The Ready-Mix Plant Groundskeeper is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and general upkeep of the plant grounds and surrounding areas. This role supports plant operations by ensuring a clean, organized, and hazard-free environment.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Support a culture that promotes safety as a top priority while ensuring compliance with all federal, state and company regulatory policies and procedures.
  • Maintain the stockpile area.
  • Maintain the truck loading and washdown area to ensure cleanliness and efficiency.
  • Keep the plant grounds clean and free of debris.
  • Ensure walkways and parking areas are clear of obstructions and hazards.
  • Mow lawns, trim hedges, and maintain landscaping around the plant.
  • Sweep and clean plant floors, offices, restrooms, and common areas.
  • Empty trash bins and dispose of waste appropriately.
  • Maintain effective communication with the Plant Manager and other personnel on the job site as required.
  • Wash down equipment, vehicles, and plant structures as needed.
  • Perform basic maintenance tasks on equipment and machinery.
  • Report any equipment malfunctions or needed repairs to the Plant Manager.
  • Assist with minor repairs and lubrication of equipment.
  • Assist with loading and unloading materials as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Prior experience as yardman experience preferred
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Must be willing to work weekends and overtime as needed

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, and sit for extended periods of time. This position requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing at times. The employee must consistently lift and carry items up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift or move items up to 60 pounds. Must be able to frequently climb stairs and ladders. Ability to use vibration tools. May occasionally deal with heights. Must be able to safely maintain 3 points of contact when applicable.

Work Environment:
Most of the time is spent outdoors in the processing plant. Assignments may require periods of work in all weather conditions, heat, cold, wet, or dry. May have exposure to dust, sand, gravel, diesel, exhaust, lubricants, solvents, etc. Work areas may have noise levels up to 90 dbs. Work areas require personal protective equipment such as, hard hat, safety glasses, steel-toed boots, high visibility vest or shirt, and hearing protection.
