Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Associate (Legal)

The ESG Associate role is in Chubb's global climate and sustainability team, reporting to the Global Climate Officer. The ESG Associate will have primary responsibility for Chubb's global ESG reporting, including coordination with regional legal teams to support country-level reporting by Chubb's global subsidiaries. The ESG Associate will also be responsible for legal and policy research to support the climate and sustainability team and will provide support on other public policy matters as directed by the GCO.
RESPONSIBILITIES
· Act as a primary author and project manager for Chubb's global ESG reporting, including Chubb's TCFD report and sustainability reporting
· Develop and maintain Chubb's Global ESG compliance calendar, monitoring local developments in all Chubb jurisdictions
· Coordinate with Global Climate Officer and regional legal teams to support preparation of local ESG reports, including country level ESG and sustainability reports
· Coordinate with Corporate Affairs team to support ESG aspects of annual reporting and proxy statement drafting
· Monitor global public policy developments on ESG, and support Global Climate Officer and Government Affairs team in development of position papers and comments on pending legislation, regulations, and proposed voluntary reporting frameworks
· Perform peer analyses and identify benchmarking indicators
· Assist with ESG target setting and implementation of best practices
· Collaborate with internal experts to create ESG content
· Perform due diligence and regular monitoring of ESG metrics, working with Internal Audit and third parties on data validation
· Partner with internal stakeholders to effectively advise the external community about developments in the Company's ESG efforts
QUALIFICATIONS
· Minimum 4 years' experience in a law firm, global corporate or public institutional setting
· Experience or interest in ESG issues, and ideally knowledge of industry trends and policy related to ESG.
· Excellent written and oral communication skills with ability to adapt to different formats (press releases annual reports, website, etc.) -- a writing sample will be required
· Excellent analytical skills
· Ability to work independently with minimal instruction and to proactively engage with a wide range of internal colleagues and external resources.
· Comfortable managing multiple priorities and finding creative solutions to complex challenges
EDUCATIONAL AND PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS
· J.D. degree from a U.S. law school.
· Licensed to practice law in at least one U.S. state.
· Undergraduate degree from an accredited U.S. or foreign university or college.
