The Ohio Attorney General's Office has played a vital role in shaping Ohio's past and present and the work it does today helps chart the state's future. The office consists of nearly 30 distinct sections that advocate for consumers and victims of crime, assist the criminal justice community, provide legal counsel for state offices and agencies, and enforce certain state laws. In these and other capacities, staff members interact with tens of thousands of Ohioans each year.
The Ohio Attorney General's Office is seeking an Assistant Attorney General for an opening in the Court of Claims Section, with at least 2-4 years of litigation experience who can manage a complex caseload defending lawsuits in the Ohio Court of Claims, or pursuing claims, as a plaintiff's attorney in various Common Pleas Courts. The successful candidate will mainly litigate construction claims from contractors, or claims against contractors/architects/construction managers or others for defective work/negligent acts. This candidate will practice mainly construction and public procurement law. Prior construction law experience is helpful, but not required. Duties will include: case investigation and development, conducting written discovery, taking and defending depositions, pleading and motion practice, witness development and preparation, trial practice, including jury trials, and appellate practice.
