Forklift Operator (2nd Shift) (Project Management)

If you are a Forklift Operator looking for an opportunity to grow, Emerson has an exciting opportunity for you!  Based in our Racine, Wisconsin location, you will be responsible for the Just-In-Time (JIT) delivery of materials to production areas. This position utilizes a fork truck to deliver these materials on time-sensitive delivery routes to flow racks and drop-off points throughout manufacturing. Reports part issues in the production areas, and performs 5S organization tasks (Sort, Set in Order, Shine/Sweep, Standardize, Sustain, and Safety).
 

AS A FORKLIFT OPERATOR, YOU WILL: 

  • Deliver materials on proscribed routes or as needed per production schedule and collect empty bins, skids, etc. for return to Warehouse (or designated location) using production schedules and pull/kanban signals.
  • Check/audit inventory to identify potential material issues which may adversely impact the production schedule. Escalate problems appropriately for both immediate action and long term root cause problem solving/mistake-proofing (Poka-Yoke).
  • Load/unload material using a crane to manage production inventory levels.  
  • Participate in stand up meetings and respond effectively to changes such as schedule adjustments, change notices, delivery routes adjustments, supplier changes, etc. Participate in continuous improvement of individual material flow processes.
  • Complete all required paperwork, quality records, issue documentation, etc. as required.
  • Follow all safety, work rules and regulations.  Responsible for area 5S standards and next shift handoffs.
  • Initial fork truck training time of 30 days.  Training time for proficiency of full rotation is a process of six (6) months.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must be available to work any shift in the event of a shift change
  • 1 year continuous work history with a single employer
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States 
 Other Skills and Abilities: 
  • Interact effectively with others to support a production area, gain cooperation, and convey information.
  • Ability to use computers and hand-held devices to record material transactions and analyze data.
  • Ability to perform basic math calculations using whole numbers, decimals and/or fractions.
  • Ability to read, understand and communicate, both orally and in writing, information needed to complete orders and other paperwork, and document issues. Must be able to read and understand work instructions, quality records, and other documents required by company, federal, state and local laws.
